Welcome to Sunday Worship on the Web May 3
If we cannot be with each other in body we can at least be with each other in spirit. Below is a Children's video for kids to watch and then an audio recording of scripture readings, prayers and sermon. You can follow along by scrolling down the page. At the bottom there are some worship music videos you can watch and some announcements.
An Invitation to Worship
Written by Ann Siddall
Only the hungry search for bread.
Only the thirsty look for water.
This is a place for those who are hungry and thirsty in spirit.
Only those who ache for meaning will pursue it.
Only those who yearn for a deeper life will seek it.
This is a place for those who ache and yearn for something more.
So let us come here today with our hunger and thirst,
our unsatisfied longings, our heart-felt yearnings,
and let the God of life satisfy our souls.
4 One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
and to inquire in his temple.
5 For he will hide me in his shelter
in the day of trouble;
he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;
he will lift me high upon a rock.
6 And now my head shall be lifted up
above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in his tent
sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make melody to the Lord.
7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud;
be gracious to me and answer me!
8 You have said, “Seek my face.”
My heart says to you,
“Your face, Lord, do I seek.”
9 Hide not your face from me.
Turn not your servant away in anger,
O you who have been my help.
Cast me not off; forsake me not,
O God of my salvation!
by John of the Cross
O Lord our God, you are as generous as you are powerful, as kind as you are rich. How powerfully and richly you pour out your gifts upon me! O soft hand of God, you lay your hand so softly on my soul. Yet if you were to press the world with your hand, all creatures would perish. If you were to look at the world with anger, the whole earth would quake and the mountains crumble to pieces. And yet you treat me so gently, so softly, so lovingly. You have the power of life and death over all creatures. And yet you put aside that power. Instead you allow my soul to be wounded by sin, in order to give me the joy of being healed by your touch. You slay in me that which should be slain; and in this way you save me for your life.
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
12 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. 25 For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?
